Background and scope of the conference

On the occasion of the 69th Anniversary of Mahidol University - Faculty of Public Health Day 25 May 2017, the FPH-MU and partner organizations are delighted to host the 1st APACPH Bangkok Region Conference and the 8th International Public Health Conference on toward Achieving Sustainable Development Goals 2030 from 25 to 26 May 2017 at Phaya Thai Campus, FPH-MU, Bangkok, Thailand.
Since September 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals were adopted by the UN General Assembly. The SDG agenda recognizes that human health and well-being depend on political, economic, and social systems and the natural environment where people live. Among 17 SDGs, SDG 3 is comprehensive and linked to many other SDGs, including Goals 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 16. SDG3 includes 13 targets covering all major health priorities (unfinished MDG); new health priorities including NCDs, injuries and environmental issues and means of implementing targets. Indicators for SDG3 comprise 4 main categories including reproductive health, infectious disease, NCDs and service capacity and access. For all countries, achieving SDGs is a gradual process and different countries are at different stages along the road toward SDGs. Evidence based practice is required to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
This first APACPH Region Conference with interdisciplinary and multisectoral collaboration will be hosted by APACPH and FPH-MU and cohosted by the Faculty of Public Health, Burapha University and Mahasarakham University to promote SDGs, particular SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG7 (alternative energy), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities), SDG 13 (climate action), SDG 15 (life on land) and SDG 17 (partnerships for SDGs).
